El Surco Guarani
In 1964, Juan Bazan’s novel, “Del
Surco Guarani”, was published in
Buenos Aires. The novel depicted
life in rural Paraguay--simple, yet
complicated by the political scene.
The protagonist, Juan Leon Patino,
lives alone on his estancia, his son
studying law in the capital city,
Asuncion, his wife deceased. But
another revolution is brewing, and
his son, Julio, is embroiled. Juan is
indeed worried!
